Chiropractic is often related to osteopathy, though both treatments focus on the musculoskeletal system which includes the spine but they are not the same. Osteopathy believes in treating the body as a whole which includes the musculoskeletal system but do not believe that all diseases are a cause of some vertebral misalignment and a simple adjustment would prevent it like the chiropractic practice believes. Most chiropractors are always stressing their difference against osteopathy including the chiropractors at San Pablo Chiropractic clinic.
Early chiropractic did face the same problems back when D.D. Palmer started the practice. The osteopathy began a few years earlier than chiropractic it is only normal that people would try to compare and see the similarities of the two practices, though both would site things that would tell them apart. Osteopathy’s main focus is the entire human musculoskeletal system while chiropractics only focus is on the spine or the nervous system. Like chiropractic, osteopathy is also very common in United States and Canada. Though there are other countries which contain a significant number of osteopaths like in Europe. Chiropractics are believed to be a specialty while osteopathy is a medical philosophy.
Both are considered to be an alternative medicine to the mainstream medical practices. In San Pablo Chiropractic clinic chiropractors would sometimes give their patients referral to medical specialists in order to treat certain conditions, which is also similar with what osteopaths would do. Osteopaths are more like a physician because they focus on preventive drugs and musculoskeletal system in reducing problems. Unlike the chiropractors that strongly oppose the use of drugs in treating a patient.
In education level, osteopaths receive the same education level as chiropractors. And compared with chiropractors, osteopaths can provide general care because chiropractors tend to offer a specific treatment of adjusting or manipulating the spine in attempt to improve health and reduce pain. When it comes with test results, osteopathy’s treatment gained a more positive result compared with chiropractic’s treatment which gives inconclusive results. But the San Pablo Chiropractic clinic like any other clinics does maintain a high quality of service with its patients and always never fails to receive a very satisfied reaction from them.
Both treatments are similarly known to treat low back pains, neck pains and headache. And both are also found effective in relieving pain.
Between the two alternative treatments, only chiropractic was once considered to be turned into a religion by the founder D.D. Palmer but didn’t like the idea of confusing chiropractics with Christian Science. The inconclusive test results of the chiropractic treatment are one of the main reasons why most experts in medical field criticize its effectiveness. Even in San Pablo Chiropractic clinic criticisms are inevitable. But they still face it head on and continue to stay loyal to their chosen profession. But some chiropractic members are welcoming change to improve their treatment to be able to help their patient.
